Woodland Park is the January Focus on Students

The High Ability Learner (HAL) students from Woodland Park Elementary presented on the topics of Growth Mindset and developing Personal Learning Plans at Monday, January 14th, 2019 School Board meeting.

Second, third, and fourth graders along with their HAL teacher, Nancy Pobasco, explained how they have learned what Growth Mindset means to them. Students shared how they have developed and utilized their Growth Mindsets to create Learning Plans. They explained how failure is not always bad while sharing their strengths and Learning Plans with each board member and engaging in discussions with the board on how they have learned from failure. Board members were then asked if they had ever been congratulated for a failure. The lesson the board members were asked to glean from the presentation was: "One must fail in order to learn and keep moving forward". Encouraging others not to fear failure helps develop a healthy Growth Mindset.
