A Message From Superintendent Dr. Thompson

As we start the 2022-2023 school year, I can feel a real sense of excitement. Teachers, staff and administrators are ready to welcome their new students back to school and invite them to embark on a new year with a renewed hope for the future.

We are committed to providing all children a safe and welcoming learning environment that is filled with outstanding educational opportunities, so that each child can develop into a strong, confident learner that is prepared to pursue his or her goals for the future.

In the last nine years, we have completed two strategic planning initiatives that resulted in:

  • An updated curriculum that is more rigorous and relevant for students,
  • A research-based instructional model designed to support teachers in the effective, implementation of that curriculum,
  • Enhanced grading practices,
  • One-to-one technology in grades 2-12,
  • The implementation of thirteen career academies, which are designed to prepare students to enter the workforce or college, depending upon students’ individual goals,
  • Extensive safety enhancements, and
  • The expansion of Little Panthers Preschool, one of the best early childhood programs in the state.

And, we are excited to engage in our third round of strategic planning this Fall. I don’t know what our new goals and plans will look like, but I do know that they will result in even better outcomes for our students…because we truly believe that NOTHING should prevent the success of our students.

I hope that every student, teacher, parent and staff member has a great year…but I also want you to know that we are here to help if you need it. Do not hesitate to contact your teacher, school counselor, or principal if you have a question or concern. We are here to help ensure your child’s success!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jami Jo L. Thompson
