New NHS Bowling Coaches

Michael Wright has been named the new Head Coach of the Norfolk Boys and Girls Bowling Team for the 22-23 school year. Michael is in his first year as a teacher at Norfolk. Michael has many qualities that make him an excellent choice for this position.

“Bowling has always been a huge part of my life. I was involved in bowling throughout my four years of high school where we won a state championship and a South Dakota Invitational Tournament, runner up at state, and multiple personal milestones. I also bowled for two years at the college level at Wayne State College. Bowling has taught me a lot about perseverance and maintaining a positive attitude when competing, even when it was tough.”

Jessi Jensen has been named the new Assistant Coach of the Norfolk Boys and Girls Bowling Team for the 22-23 school year. Jessi is in her 4th year as a math instructor at the high school and brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the program.

“I am excited to be the assistant coach of the 2022/2023 Norfolk High School bowling team. I have been bowling for 34 years and look forward to sharing my passion with others. I bowled at Iowa State University for 1 1/2 years before transferring to Wayne State College for golf. I was assistant bowling coach at Sioux City East for 1 year when my kids were little. I've attended the Shocker bowling camp at Wichita State with my children. Currently, I bowl in a league and travel to a variety of tournaments throughout the United States.”

“We are excited to have Michael and Jessi start the bowling program.  Their experience and knowledge in the sport of bowling will be valuable for a new program. They have a passion for the game. I look forward to seeing the bowling program grow and improve under their leadership.”
