Safety Training for NPS Teachers

Norfolk Public Schools’ teaching staff returned from the holiday break ready to learn!  On Thursday, January 3rd, all NPS teachers participated in a day of professional development and training.  One portion of the training was focused on the school district's strategic planning goal to "enhance and effectively use its comprehensive safety plans and procedures."  During the safety training time together, staff members learned more about the procedures and tools in place at NPS to help prevent and navigate a potential crisis.  The teachers also had an opportunity to listen to an informative speaker from the Nebraska State Patrol that shared strategies for protecting themselves, and their students, during a crisis situation.

Mr. Michael Hart, Director of Human Resources and NPS Safety Team Lead, told us, "At Norfolk Public Schools, the safety of our staff and students is our highest priority.  We believe that safety awareness and ongoing training is important.  We strive to equip our school staff with the tools to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students."
