Jefferson in the 'Spotlight'

Jefferson Elementary initiated one-to-one technology this year in grades 1-4 thanks to a grant from the "Connie Fund," a Nebraska Community Foundation donor-advised fund serving northeast Nebraska. Connie Day, her siblings and her children all attended Jefferson Elementary! Several years before her death in 2001, Connie had the vision to create an endowment that would continue for generations. This past year, Connie's son, Brandon Day, and his wife Tammy who serve as the Fund's advisors, awarded Jefferson the largest grant - just over $60,000 for Chromebooks and iPads. The students and staff at Jefferson are amazed at having the technology in their hands throughout the day. Students are able to read books, practice skills, create, record, test and do many other engaging tasks with the gift of one-to-one. Teacher Meagan Priebe says, "We're preparing them for future educational opportunities and their future careers." We want to thank the Norfolk Public Schools Foundation, the Nebraska Community Foundation and of course the family of Connie Day for investing in our students.
