Norfolk Public Schools uses a telephone communication system to notify families of weather-related school closings. This mass communication system allows us to notify families individually by telephone when school has been canceled due to bad weather.
When school is closed, the system will call the households of all students with this weather closing information. When a decision is made in the evening, we try to notify families by 10 P.M. When a decision is made in the morning, we try to notify families by 6 A.M.
Information about school closings is also announced on local radio and television stations, and on the Norfolk Daily News website.
