Rain Can’t Stop the Fun at Grant!

Grant students were scheduled to have an outside field day, but Mother Nature had other plans! P.E. Teacher Josh Long modified the annual end of the year event to include shoe kick, standing long jump, bean bag throw and a running race.  

Second-Graders Visit Henry Doorly Zoo

Grant Second Graders enjoyed a day at the Henry Doorly Zoo on Monday, May 7th!  For many students it was their first time visiting the zoo. After returning to school, students completed a writing piece about their favorite memories.

Mrs. Baker's Class Visits SMILE, Inc.


First Graders in Mrs. Baker's class at Grant Elementary collected money all year in their smiley bank and donated it to the SMILE, Inc. program, owned and operated by Patty Prauner. Students Make "Noise" in Music Class

In music class, playing instruments is a favorite activity for many students! Kids LOVE to make noise! I love to see when it “clicks” and they realize they have organized that noise into music. Wild About Reading

 Grant Elementary was bustling on Thursday evening, March 1, in celebration of “Read Across America” and Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  Over 300 guests arrived to get their faces painted like the Cat, make crafts, play games and musical instruments, research wild animals, and eat green eggs and ham.  But that is not all they did!  Oh no!  That is not all!  Guests were entertained by our own Norfolk Public…

3rd Graders Pack Food for Mercy Meals

The 3rd Graders at Grant Elementary were so busy on February 12th and 13th.  Both classrooms made a visit to Mercy Meals to package food for people in need.  The food we packaged would be sent to the Philippines.  We had wonderful volunteers helping us out -  Mrs. Kube, Mrs. Rotherham, Mrs. McFarlane, Mr. Berryman, and Mrs. Rodriguez (What a trooper - she helped both days!).
