Technology Used in Mrs. Morgan's Room

Mrs. Morgan's First Graders at Grant Elementary have been busy using technology to become better readers, spellers, mathematicians, and coders.

They have used apps like Seesaw, Magnet letters, and IXL to polish their language arts and math skills.

The first graders have also been learning to code using our Code and Go Robot Mouse.

First Graders Learn About Maps

Mrs. Morgan's and Mrs. Baker' first graders at Grant Elementary have been studying maps as part of our Wonders Reading program. The class decided to visit the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce. On our route, we discussed directions, street names, and the best way to get to our destination.

Red Ribbon Run

The annual Red Ribbon Run was held on Saturday, October 10th at the Sunset Plaza Mall. Over 200 runners participated in the event with close to 20 students from Grant elementary. The top 3 boys and girls in each age group received medals. Special Education Working to Improve Student Vocabulary

The Special Education Department is continuing to work toward a district goal of improving students’ vocabulary.  The goal that the district has set is “By 2017, 70% of students in grades 2-10 will demonstrate improvement in vocabulary skills by one point as measured by the MAP assessment.  This goal will be an ongoing goal until 2020.”
