Second semester in third grade is exploding with new concepts and events to look forward to! First of all, third graders are working hard to master multiplication facts! Each week, we conquer a new fact family! Please help your third grader study these important facts. IXL and Xtra Math are great resources that are set up and available to help your student study at home.
Recently the students were studying about Pioneer life and travel in our Wonders Reading program. As an extra credit project, students were encouraged to take on a family project. They had their choice of building a covered wagon or train. We were excited to see the results of their labor. Check out our Gallery for pictures.
In February, the third grade students have the opportunity to do a community service project. They will go to Mercy Meals to package food for people in countries that need food. We are so happy to help others in need.
In March, our third graders will have the opportunity to show off all that they have learned when they take the MAPS tests. We will be setting goals soon. In April, we will be getting ready for the NeSA testing. We still want our students to stay focused and show us what they have learned this year at Grant. Be sure that your third grader keeps working hard, gets plenty of sleep, and eats breakfast as testing dates arrive.
With all this hard work also comes an opportunity for extra fun! Later, in the spring, we plan on meeting our pen pals from Tilden and Battle Creek that we have been writing to all year! More information about this exciting trip will be coming home!
We love watching your third grader grow and learn! Keep working hard at home on those multiplication facts and other homework! Fourth grade is just around the corner!
