Our school year is underway and a ton of learning is happening in our classroom! We are working on how to complete a work plan, school and classroom procedures, and grace and courtesy with our students. In our classroom we have been learning about blends, digraphs, compounds, punctuation, reading sentences, and graphemes just to name a few of the jobs on our work plan. In math we are working on addition and subtraction, numbers to 120, place value, money and telling time, and making tens. In our cultural area we started a unit on the solar system and the students are highly engaged learning about our planets! We also started Battle of the Books, in which students get to vote on two books and the book that gets the highest vote gets to move on in the book bracket. At the end of the month there will be a champion book. The students have been asking each day if we are doing Battle of the Books so it has been a big hit! We have had an excellent start to the school year and I can’t wait to see what the students accomplish this year!!
