The students have been very busy in music! The younger boys and girls enjoy learning about
rhythm patterns and are having fun singing, playing, writing, and creating rhythms!
Their favorite activities are: playing rhythm sticks with music, making rhythm patterns using
colored sticks, and creating more complex rhythms using picture cards.
They also like singing seasonal songs with actions! We will soon begin a new unit: a children's
classic fairy tale from Russia - Peter and the Wolf!

The older students in third and fourth grade are really good at singing and reviewing solfege
syllables. They know Frere Jacques, Scotland's Burning, and Hot Cross Buns just to name
a few! The third grade are completing a unit on the lines and spaces of the treble clef.
They are finishing up their packets and did a Valentine project with musical messages!
The fourth grade completed a unit on Instrument Families of the Orchestra and participated
in many activities, games, and music. They recently took their assessment over the
unit and are ready to begin the wonderful world of recorders!
