Mrs. Vanness - Grades 1 & 2

Earlier this week, the students and I were discussing how wonderful it was that Ms. Roberts had been honored as the Nebraska Principal of the Year. Last week, she and her husband were able to travel to Washington D.C and visit the White House and other historical places. I asked them if they would like to be a principal and after hearing some of their answers, I decided it would make a great journal prompt. Below are some excerpts from our journals stating the reasons it would be great to be a principal, and some reasons why it would be.....well....... not so great! Enjoy!!

Why I would like to be a principal:

Addesen: I could travel to the White House. I could meet presidents!
Desarae: I would like to be a principal so I could get a lot of hugs!
Ian: I would be principal because I would get lots of treats I would give them a piece of candy for giving me treats.
Dawson: I like hugs. I like lots of hugs from kids.
Brynn: I would eat pizza with the kids.
Kennedy: I would like to check people's work.
Elizabeth: I want to get presents.
Evelyn: I would like to be a principal because I would get to see paperwork.                                                 Mallory: You get to see kids papers.                                                                                                               Lydia: I would like to be principal so I can tell everyone what to do.

Why I would NOT like to be a principal:

Claire: I don't like naughty kids. Naughty kids go to the principal's office.
Blake: I would want to be with my family. I'd rather be with my family because, you know, you do fun stuff with your kids or something like that.
Raul: I would have to check people's work.
Liam: I don't like to do paperwork.
Isaac: I would not like to deal with kids.
Maggie: I would have to go to two schools. I would rather go to one school.
Harlie: I would not want to be a principal because of all the paperwork. That would be boring.
Briley: I would not want to deal with naughty kids.
Aidan: You have lots of paperwork.
Miley: I have other jobs I want to do when I grow up!
