Fourth-grade students at Grant Elementary have been diving into an exciting writing project focused on animals. Each student chose an animal to research, exploring key aspects such as the animal’s adaptations, habitat, and diet. Through this research, students gained valuable insights into how different animals survive and thrive in their environments. They then used the writing process to organize and develop a five-paragraph essay. The essays included an introduction, three body paragraphs detailing the animal's unique features, and a conclusion that wrapped up their findings.
In addition to writing, students showcased their creativity by drawing a picture of their chosen animal. They not only focused on accurately representing the animal’s features, but also wrote a thoughtful caption to accompany their artwork, explaining the animal's adaptations and characteristics. This hands-on project allowed students to apply both their research and artistic skills. It’s been a great way for students to improve their writing abilities while learning about the fascinating world of animals!
