A new year means the 4th grade has begun their learning journey with fractions. Fractions are fantastic because students started with exploring the concept of “equal parts” with different shapes before moving onto real world situations. Students have daily opportunities to share and discuss their thinking. Precise language is essential to building student understanding of fractions. The 4th graders are discovering how working with fractions means using all four mathematical operations. Fractions are our favorites!
