Second-Graders Visit Henry Doorly Zoo

Grant Second Graders enjoyed a day at the Henry Doorly Zoo on Monday, May 7th!  For many students it was their first time visiting the zoo. After returning to school, students completed a writing piece about their favorite memories.

Our trip to the zoo always becomes a favorite highlight of our second-grade year!  Enjoy reading some of our memories from the zoo:

Veronnica:  We saw bobcats.  They looked at us.  They were so cute!

Levi:  I saw many animals.  I saw a silverback, which could be Ivan.  I saw it’s bones.

Heath:  I saw a waterfall and we got wet.  We all went on a bridge, it was wobbly.

Khloe:  We went to the aquarium and got to touch starfish. They look so soft but they are hard and the water is cold.

Joel:  I saw the white alligator.  It was not moving at all. I was not scared.

Andres:  My group walked to the Desert Dome.  It was very hot in there!

Jorden:  I saw animals in the basement of the Desert Dome.  They were nocturnal.

Bailey:  I saw starfish.  They felt smooth.  They were funny feeling.

Jenahcie:  I saw a Red Panda laying in a hay bed.  It was red and fluffy.

Nihemiah:  I went to the swamp.  It was stinky, so I held my breath.

Elijah:  I saw the penguins.  The penguins were cute when they were on land.

Thomas:  We saw the cheetahs in the African grasslands.  They stared at us.

Savanna:  We saw a sloth in the Kingdom of the Night.  The sloth was moving so slow.

Diana:  In the aquarium,I saw a lot of sharks.  I saw an orange jellyfish and stingrays.

Ruth:  I saw a starfish.  I touched the starfish.  They come in different colors.

Malachi:  I saw a Komodo Dragon.  Their slobber is deadly poison.  They are so big and small.

Jaycin:  I went to the jungle.  I saw the animals in the jungle.

Nevaeh:  I got to see a sloth.  They were so slow. I saw them swinging from the trees.
