Second Grade Zoologists Explore Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo!

On Monday, May 7th, students traveled to the zoo in Omaha. Students were delighted with the many exhibits and hands on activities. Students learned about animal habitats and are currently completing animal reports that connect with their adventures. Favorite activities included petting leopard fur, touching starfish and sea urchin, digging up dinosaur fossils, and walking through dark caves. There was even a 5 month old baby giraffe! The monkeys and gorillas provided great entertainment as they chased and played. Students also made connections to our Wild About Reading theme at Grant. They decided that one gorilla was Ivan and named two elephants Ruby and Stella. Mrs. Lingenfelter and Mrs. Mather also had a wonderful time! Enjoy some pictures of the trip!
