Our young artists here at Grant have been very busy creating some pretty awesome artwork! The students have been introduced to a variety of art media as well as master artists. Paintings, collages and mixed media artworks were created as the focus on elements and principles of design were implemented in each lesson. Drawing and many other art skills were built on at each grade level.
Highlighted in the photograph is the abstract cat project 3rd graders completed earlier in the year. This lesson was inspired by the works of late American artist Laural Burch. As we studied her work, the students became familiar with the style of abstract ion. Students utilized their knowledge of color, line, shape and pattern to create beautiful stylized cats. Success was met by all!
