Greeting from the Gym
Seems like we just started school. Can't believe that we are almost through the first semester. My how the time flies by. We have just finished up our volleyball unit, which the kids love. We are currently doing basketball with hockey and gymnastics units coming up, so the kids are excited about that.
I know that Parent Teacher conferences are over and I wasn't able to meet with you for the first semester because I was at my other school that I teach at, but fear not because the next time we have them in February, I will be here for all three days so that I can see everyone. We are doing our student-led conferences again this year, just like last year, except the students will have some new stations to show you. I hope that all of you can make it down to the gym, either before or after your conference with the classroom teacher.
I would like to say what a wonderful job our students did during Red Ribbon Week. We had quite a few students dress up each day, and we also had a lot of students show up for the Red Ribbon Run on Saturday. We even had a current student get a medal at the race and a couple former students get one as well. Hopefully next year, we can have many more students do the race.
It's never too early to promote upcoming events. We have our annual Jump Rope for Heart on February 4th. This is through the American Heart Association, and is a good fund raiser for a terrific organization, along with great exercise for the students. More information will be coming home in January. May brings the annual Grant Field Day for all of the students on Monday, May 16th, which is always a fun day for students and teachers alike. Be sure to check into later editions for more details on each event.
Thanks again, I look forward to having a great year!
