On Tuesday, October 14th, Grant Kindergarten students visited our local fire station. Students had some fun the first few weeks of classes in Lab and Library. On top of being reminded how they take care of books and check out, students also learned about S.T.E.A.M. In honor of the heroes of September 11th, 2001, fourth-grade students at Grant Elementary School wrote heartfelt thank-you letters to their local fire and police departments. Mrs. Dahlkoetter’s and Miss Howard’s first graders at Grant Elementary took a spring field trip to the Norfolk Public Library. The 4th grade is participating in the Great Mail Race this school year. Students wrote letters to a 4th grade class in each of the fifty states. Students completed a questionnaire to go with the letter. They shared about their interests, Grant school, Norfolk and facts about Nebraska. One unique fact is that Nebraska is the only state with a unicameral.

In music class, third graders have been using animal names to create rhythm compositions. We started by sorting animals according to their rhythmic syllables. Then students worked together to decide what order to arrange them.
