At Grant Elementary, we are proud to highlight Respect as our Character Trait for this month. During this season of giving and togetherness, our school community is focusing intentionally on what it means to value others, treat people with kindness, and demonstrate appreciation for the unique perspectives each person brings. Students will engage in classroom discussions, morning messages, and activities that help them recognize respectful behaviors—such as listening without interrupting, using polite language, taking care of shared spaces, sharing with others, taking turns, and showing gratitude. By practicing these simple yet powerful actions, we create a school environment where everyone feels safe, included, and valued.
Respect also extends beyond our school walls and into our homes and families. This month, we encourage students to show respect by helping with family responsibilities without being asked, expressing appreciation for the people who care for them, and being patient and considerate during busy holiday moments. Whether it's resolving disagreements calmly, sharing with siblings, or offering a kind word, every act of respect strengthens relationships. By working together—students, staff, and families—we can make respect a daily habit and a positive force in our community.
