Welding Academy

Students in the Welding Academy will be introduced to welding safety, fundamentals of oxyacetylene welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding. They will also be instructed with a variety of welding positions on assorted gauges of metal and basic fabrication. In addition, students are instructed in the setup and safe operation of Oxyacetylene torch and plasma cutting.  A variety of hands-on projects and experiments integrate and reinforce theoretical concepts in the laboratory setting.

Certifications

OSHA 10 hour and local NHS career readiness certification developed in partnership with local  
welding businesses through the Welding Advisory Team.

Possible Careers

Welding is a career that offers more choices of industries to work in and advancement opportunities than just about any other career choice.Choices range from: Entry level welder, Manufacturing, Construction, Industrial Maintenance and Repair, Welding Machine Operators, Inspector, Engineer, Robotics, Education, Project Management, and Sales.

Freshman: Exploring Industrial Tech  (recommended exploratory course for academy)
Sophomore:  Metals I  (required intro course for academy)
Junior:  *Technical Math (required core course for academy)
Junior or Senior:  Metals II (year long) (required intermediate & capstone course for academy)

 * Dual Credit Course (Northeast Community College)
