Congrats & Thank You Nucor Detailing Center!

Nucor Detailing Center receives a Developing Youth Talent Initiative Grant that will support students of Norfolk Public Schools and the surrounding area.

Norfolk Public Schools is excited to congratulate business partner, Nucor Detailing Center (NDC), on their award of a $40,400 Developing Youth Talent Initiative (DYTI) Grant for 2020!  On August 5, 2020, Governor Pete Ricketts announced at a press conference that Nucor was named a recipient of this grant award for the second time.

The DYTI program was introduced by the Governor in 2015 and is designed to grow the state by connecting 7th and 8th graders to future careers in manufacturing, information technology, engineering, healthcare, and other STEM-related disciplines.

Nucor Detailing Center’s objective is to introduce students of Northeast Nebraska to design and manufacturing processes. They intend to use the grant funds to develop curriculum for 3D printing and to purchase 3D printers for use in five area schools.  The program is slated to reach up to 2,000 students across 15 schools.

Dr. Jennifer Robinson, Principal at Norfolk Junior High, told us, “We were thrilled to learn that Nucor Detailing Center was named a recipient of this grant.  It is an exciting time to be a Junior High School student in Norfolk right now, with many opportunities available to introduce cutting edge technology through our partnership with NDC.  Dave DeCorolis and Justin Olson, the trainers at Nucor that work closely with us in our Creation Station at the Junior High, are outstanding!  Our students and staff want to thank Nucor Detailing Center, and its many teammates, for all their hard work and for making career development at Norfolk Junior High School a priority.  We are very fortunate to have them as leaders in our community and partners in our schools!”
