Be Kind!

The students in Mrs. Heying's fourth grade class are starting the year off KIND at Westside Elementary School!

Mrs. Heying told us, "We are practicing BEING KIND no matter what mood we may wake up in. Each day during our morning meeting, we have incorporated a positive “character trait of the day” or a quick team building activity to help us feel friendly and treat each other with kindness and respect. Adding a few character-building activities to part of your regular routine can teach students essential skills that will help them interact with others successfully."   A few examples of the team building activities include a quick game of “That’s what I like about you”, “How to be your Superhero”, and “This is Me.” Students are encouraged to compliment others, to encourage each other, and to ask for help when needed. Mrs. Heying said, "We hug, high five, dab, laugh and have our own individual handshakes. We are thrilled to spend this school year getting to know each other and celebrate each other’s differences."

Students are reminded daily that “In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND.”
