The First Grade students at Westside Elementary celebrated Red Ribbon Week this week. Students kicked off the week by pledging to be Drug Free. To end the week, a speaker from the Madison County Extension Office came and presented a program called, “Health Rocks”. This was a hands-on presentation about the harmful effects of smoking. During the week, the first graders did a writing activity called: Say No to Drugs, Say YES to… Here are some of their amazing responses: I Say YES to broccoli, I Say YES to reading books, I Say YES to being kind, I Say YES to exercise, and I Say YES to drinking V8 juice. What a smart group of first graders!
