Technology

Norfolk Public Schools is a Google Apps for Education school. The Google Apps for Education Suite offers a wide variety of resources for teachers and students to enhance their teaching skills and learning ability. The district is well equipped with technology opportunities for our students. Through the use of Google Apps, teachers and students can save time and stay connected. NPS Junior and Senior High buildings provide a 1:1 student to device learning atmosphere, while the PK through 6th grade devices average a 2:1 ratio. Google Apps for Education has transformed the learning environment for both teachers and students. Today, information is easily accessed thanks to the internet. Blended learning opportunities have become a platform to educate anyone, anywhere, at anytime. NPS strives to use technology to make education more engaging, comprehensive, and efficient. As a part of the NPS Strategic Action Plan, the district is committed to implementing a continuous and comprehesive integration of technology for all students.

Beginning in 2014, the district through a partnernship with ESU 8, adopted the CASE framework. This is a research based tool for analyzing and improving the use of technology in our schools. CASE stands for Classroom, Access, Skills and Environment. By analyzing hundreds of data points, CASE creates a detailed picture of what's happening in our school. For example, CASE reveals how frequently students create multimedia projects in class and how regularly teachers use online resources for their professional learning. Each piece of information contributes to an overall picture of our efforts, which we use to drive improvements.

The following reports highlight the data we received from our 2016 data collection. This data was collected from students and teachers through the Clarity survey. The survey will be conducted each spring.
