Dr. Jami Jo Thompson has served as the Superintendent of Norfolk Public Schools since July 2013. She previously served Beatrice Public Schools for eighteen years, where she received the Milken National Educator Award and was certified as School Improvement Specialist by the NCA/CASI Accreditation Board. Dr. Thompson holds the following degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln:

*Bachelors of Science: Special Education
Dr. Thompson is proud to serve as the Superintendent of Norfolk Public Schools. She has led a community-wide strategic planning initiative for Norfolk Public Schools, which resulted in a new mission, vision, motto, and goals for the district. These can be found on this website under the Strategic Planning and Reports tab. Dr. Thompson also developed an Elementary Growth Plan to systematically address growing enrollments in an equitable fashion, and she established an ad-hoc committee to conduct a comprehensive review of Norfolk Public School athletic programs.
In addition to serving as Norfolk Public Schools' Superintendent, Dr. Thompson serves on the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Norfolk Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors. She is also an active member of the Chamber Action Council.
Dr. Thompson is proud to be a Panther, and can often be seen at school and community events. She believes that the district is well on its way to realizing its vision of becoming "a top-performing school that provides outstanding educational opportunities for every student and is a source of pride and an asset to the community."
